Summary

Growing up amid addiction and chaos in a Minnesota trailer park, Tyler Zed and his two brothers broke the cycle of abuse and forged a different path。

“Attempted murder victim told the Brainerd Dispatch she believes her sixteen-year-old son saved her。”

This is the news article detailing the event that would drastically change Tyler Zed’s life and that of his family forever。

Growing up in a small town in Minnesota, Tyler and his two brothers filled their days with chaotic fun, from playing hockey to building forts to making their own home movies。 The household was also full of addiction and abuse that ultimately led to their father attempting to murder their mother on Christmas Eve 2007。

Trailer Park Parable follows Tyler and his family before Christmas Eve 2007, the events leading to that night, and the years afterward。 It trails the boys as they deal with varying degrees of PTSD and their own battles with addiction, before they eventually turned their creative coping mechanisms, like their YouTube channels, into million-subscriber successes。

From living in a trailer park to running a multi-million-dollar business, Trailer Park Parable highlights a true, American-dream story, countering a popular narrative that tells us you may as well not even try, the system is rigged against you。

If you're a fan of Zeducation, read this book! Tyler gives us a deep dive into his life and the life of his family and I feel closer to him for it。 Knowing the hardships his family endured makes you feel like he isn't just another face on the screen, he's someone you know and can even connect with in a way。 I cried more than once reading this but by the last chapter they were happy tears。 Reading how everything came back around and he finally found his "dream room" tells us that no matter what w If you're a fan of Zeducation, read this book! Awesome writer!I started watching Zeducation just a few months ago。 Tyler, Desmond, is funny and well-spoken。 I had to read his book to find out more about him and his family。 His writing style makes for an emotional read。 The book was a literal roller-coaster ride。 The author is very eloquent, telling the story of his life。 And I would like to thank him for his military service, even if it was the Airforce!

Great bookI really enjoyed the book! I’ve been a long time fan of Zeducation and will never get used to thinking of you as Dez though! 😂 Loved the book。 It was extremely compelling and well written。 Great storytelling! So happy to see you living the dream…。

My husband and I have been watching Zeducation from the beginning。 I loved reading this memoir。 Some people have complained about the writing style, how it jumps back and forth, if you’ve read a lot of memoirs this is a typical writing style and I understand the reason for doing it。 I like that it was written this way。 I love the story of triumph over a bad situation。 Young people need to read this book and see that you don’t have to be a victim of your upbringing。

Great quick read! Been a fan of Zeducation on YouTube since early 2020。 Thanks Dez, I mean Zed, for sharing your story!

First class story-tellingA well crafted book that keeps one interested all the way through。 The secrets of family life are surprising, though seldom published with such uncompromising honesty。 This story reminds me very much of Tim Trezare's "I Stand Alone", although set thirty years later。 Great reads - both of them。Here are life lessons a-plenty。 First class story-tellingA well crafted book that keeps one interested all the way through。 The secrets of family life are surprising, though seldom published with such uncompromising honesty。 This story reminds me very much of Tim Trezare's "I Stand Alone", although set thirty years later。 Great reads - both of them。Here are life lessons a-plenty。 。。。more

The book is absolutely amazing! I was seriously crying at the end of the book。 As a person from Europa (the Netherlands) I have been interested in the American Opioid crisis and I had no idea that this book would be about that as well。 I sometimes watch video's about the crisis in Philadelphia, Kensington (the zombies wandering down the streets)。 Those Oxycodone pills have truly pushed America into an insane Opioid epidemic and your book zooms in on just one of the millions of examples of famili The book is absolutely amazing! Fear is the mind killerWell done。 I can relate from my own childhood。 All can say is to never let your past, or your fears, define you, but if you don't embrace and understand your past and your fears they will combine to define you。 Now clean your room。 Your dream room。 Fear is the mind killerWell done。 I can relate from my own childhood。 All can say is to never let your past, or your fears, define you, but if you don't embrace and understand your past and your fears they will combine to define you。 Now clean your room。 Your dream room。 。。。more

My husband enjoys watching zeducation on YouTube and I like reading biographies so my curiosity was piqued by this new release。 I knew from my exposure to Tyler zed (aka Desmond Janezic) that he can be a bit coarse at times but is very conservative politically。 His background in the military among other things explains much of that coarseness。 His family life was heavy and hard。 Violence and abuse a big part of it。 I kept hoping for full redemption but unfortunately, despite learning forgiveness My husband enjoys watching zeducation on YouTube and I like reading biographies so my curiosity was piqued by this new release。 I knew from my exposure to Tyler zed (aka Desmond Janezic) that he can be a bit coarse at times but is very conservative politically。 His background in the military among other things explains much of that coarseness。 His family life was heavy and hard。 Violence and abuse a big part of it。 I kept hoping for full redemption but unfortunately, despite learning forgiveness, I felt like the hope was a bit misplaced。 He mentions finding his anchor/purpose in his marriage and daughter。 While both good things, any purpose apart from Christ will not fully satisfy。 He talks briefly about his faith but the significance of Christs work in a believers life is not the primary message。 The book bounces between 3-4 different time periods in the authors life。 I didn’t feel like this worked overly well as it often grew confusing with no natural transition between them。 。。。more

Not utterly life-changing, though it may be for some, but well worth the read。 It has the ups and downs of a struggle between love and life gone wrong。

Good story line, but too repetetive and slow paced。 I listened to the audio book and it was hard to listen - the flow wasn't great。 Good story line, but too repetetive and slow paced。 I listened to the audio book and it was hard to listen - the flow wasn't great。 。。。more

My father and I read the book together, and we both really enjoyed it。 While reading it, my father was able to relate deeply to many of the situations that Desmond told about, as he also grew up in Minnesota, in a broken home, with an alcoholic father, which left him filled with anger for many years until God put the right people in his life to share the love of Jesus with him, and teach him about forgiveness。 And ultimately becoming the father of two daughters helped him find his anchor in life My father and I read the book together, and we both really enjoyed it。 While reading it, my father was able to relate deeply to many of the situations that Desmond told about, as he also grew up in Minnesota, in a broken home, with an alcoholic father, which left him filled with anger for many years until God put the right people in his life to share the love of Jesus with him, and teach him about forgiveness。 And ultimately becoming the father of two daughters helped him find his anchor in life! 。。。more

Finding the high roadIn a society where honesty and personal responsibility is not valued, Tyler Zed tells the story of his life as he and his family work through very difficult circumstances and failures to find higher roads and living good lives。 A modern day parable that deserves our attention。 Highly recommended!

This is a roller-coaster of emotions。 It is very well written and easy to read。 It's a story of a person going through hell but never giving up。 It made me reflect on my own life。 Did I fall and not get up? I don’t normally read memoirs。 Like, I never read them。 But when a memoir is released and some of the characters in the book are your friends, you buy it and read it。 Not only because you want to support them, but because they were brave enough to tell their story to the world。You never really know what someone has been through in their lives。 You may think you know, but do you really? Absolutely incredible。I knew of Tyler Zed from his humorous and irreverent YouTube videos。 My husband and I started watching in late 2019, and his content helped pass the year that we'd all love to forget。So when he said he'd written a book, I went to Amazon and pre-ordered it asap。 I can not say enough good things about this book。 Raw, real, moving, insightful。 I could barely put it down, even as I was completely sleep deprived with a newborn。 Read this book。 Share it。 Recommend it to anyone wh Absolutely incredible。I knew of Tyler Zed from his humorous and irreverent YouTube videos。 My husband and I started watching in late 2019, and his content helped pass the year that we'd all love to forget。So when he said he'd written a book, I went to Amazon and pre-ordered it asap。 I can not say enough good things about this book。 Raw, real, moving, insightful。 I could barely put it down, even as I was completely sleep deprived with a newborn。 Read this book。 Share it。 Recommend it to anyone who will listen。 And Tyler Zed, if you're reading this, bravo, sir。 Bravo。 。。。more
